Cara Dineen
'Anomalous Chanteuse' Cara Dineen is a multi-faceted performer, vocalist, and composer. She made quite a stir over the past decade, performing with her two bands: The Brooklyn Sugar Stompers (traditional early "hot jazz" & blues) and jazz/pop mashup band BELLATONIC throughout the NYC- Metro area and beyond. After graduating Summa Cum Laude and obtaining her B.M. in vocal performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2009, she moved to New York where she and her bands were selected to perform for a multitude of high-profile event clients including: SpaceX, Coco Chanel, GQ Magazine, and the NYC Viennese Opera Ball, among many others. Since 2017, Ms. Dineen has performed internationally as solo vocalist and emcee for celebrated American tap-dance group The Tap Factor. Ms. Dineen is a proper 21st-century jazz singer: a musical connoisseur who is genre-inclusive and experimental, with her sound frequently being compared to both Billie Holiday and Bjork.
In addition to writing all of her own musical arrangements and acting as musical/creative director for each project, Ms. Dineen also composes original music. Under the moniker "ANAAM", Ms. Dineen creates live solo-vocal improvisations with a loop/effects pedal and composes electro-acoustic music. In collaboration with tap dancer/choreographer Samara Seligsohn, Ms. Dineen premiered two original compositions: "Rooted" in 2020 at LaGuardia Performing Arts Space and "Heart 2 Heart" at Symphony Space in 2019. Currently, she is composing music for her debut contemporary-classical song cycle titled "Sacred Body".
