About Me
Cheryl K. Symister-Masterson is an independent broadcast and print journalist, involved in both media for over thirty years. In February of 1994, she became a programmer at a community college in western Massachusetts, then later that year, became a volunteer programmer and the Jazz Director at WMUA 91.1 FM at UMass Amherst. In 2007, she moved to New York and four years later, joined WGXC 90.7 FM and began hosting “The Jazz Disturbance”. In 2021, she added “Situation Fluxus” to her hosting duties. Both shows are now independently produced and are posted at AllAboutJazz, the website Jazz/Fluxus (https://www.jazzfluxus.com/), Mixcloud (https://www.mixcloud.com/cheryl-k-symister-masterson/), and Global Community Radio/GCR3 (https://globalcommunityradio.blogspot.com/p/gcr3-program-schedule.html).
