The annual Jazz in June Festival weekend in downtown Camden, Maine, runs Friday through Sunday, June 13 through 15, with two Feature Concerts at the Camden Opera House and many free performances just steps away from the beautiful Midcoast harbor.
The Julia Keefe Quartet will headline the first Feature Concert Friday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. Keefe is an internationally acclaimed Native American (Nez Perce) jazz vocalist, bandleader, actor and educator. The concert’s opener, the Greg Abate Trio, is led by a hard-driving bebop jazz saxophonist, flutist and composer known to Jazz in June fans. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of show.
On Saturday, June 14, Jazz in June will welcome the 50th Anniversary Tour of Spyro Gyra to the opera house stage at 7:30 p.m. An Evening with Spyro Gyra promises musical magic by the Grammy Award-winning jazz fusion masters. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 day of show. All seats are choose-your-own reserved, available at camdenoperahouse.com or by calling (207) 236-3154.
In addition to the two ticketed Feature Concerts, there will be free in—and outdoor concerts, cocktail-hour sets, a morning Java Jazz and after-hours jam Friday and Saturday; and a wharf-side performance to cap the festival Sunday afternoon.
